When people hear about the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, the Final Leg often comes to mind. The Final Leg is the major awareness component for this international movement and Minnesota is making great strides!!

2009 Final Leg Routes

Shakopee Leg - June 8

        Begins at 10:00 am at the Shakopee Police Department

New Ulm Leg - June 9

Participants should meet at the New Ulm Police Department behind the LEC on 1st St. S & Washington from 7:30 to 8:30 am.  Runners will leave for Sleepy Eye PD at 8:00 am.  From their, particiapnts will travel to Main Street/TH14, go east to Brown County Road 27 to New Ulm, down 5th St. North hill to Minnesota Street, turn right onto 20th St. S, turn right onto Broadway Street and turn left onto Conntonwood River Ridge.  Total milage for the leg will be 17 miles.


Savage Leg - June 15

Dakota County Leg - June 18

Includes Mendota Heights, Dakota County Sheriff's Office, West St. Paul, Inver Grove Heights, Lakeville, Minnesota State Patrol, Eagan, Rosemount, South St. Paul, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Duluth Leg - June 18
       Begins at City Hall at 8:30 and will travel approximately 52 miles.

Buffalo Leg - June 18
       Begins at 7:00 a.m. from downtown Buffalo parking lot, located at 2nd St. and Lake Blvd S near Buffalo Lake.  For more information, click here.

Moorhead Leg -

  • June 15 - Moorhead to New York Mills. 
    Begin at 7 am at the River on Highway 10 (Center Ave)  Will travel to the County line where the Torch will be handed off to Detroit Lakes.  Torch will then travel along US Highway 10 and handed off to Ottertail County.  Ottertail County will run the torch to New York Mills.

    Includes Moorhead PD, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Clay County Corrections, Dilworth Police Department, Glyndon Police Department, Hawley Police Department, MN State Patrol, and Clay County Attorneys Office.

 

  • June 18     Brainerd to Little Falls

                   11:00 am kick off at Erberts & Gerberts.  West on Hwy 120, through Brainerd, into
                   Baxter, then south on 371, go south to rest area, and meeting up with Little Falls.
